A Roseburg man is in jail on a drug charge after police contacted him and a transient female in Micelli Park Thursday night. Police checked on the pair since the park was closed to the public when they were spotted at about 9:30 p.m. During a subsequent investigation both people were arrested after an officer determined they each possessed a small amount of marijuana. 37-year-old James Ellenberger also allegedly had a small amount of methamphetamine with him as well.

Ellenberger was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine and is being held on $50,000 bail. The 22-year-old woman was detained for a probation violation.
